December 9, 2011 The need for cancer support services is growing at a rapid pace. Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka is experiencing tremendous success in welcoming and
supporting an increasingly large number of new members each month. We anticipate having over 500 members by the end of 2011.
As a Not For Profit organization, our volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for critically evaluating the operating budget and funding
challenges in the context of the current economic environment. In recent months we have come to realize that we need to make some significant
changes to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the operation.
Therefore, we have had to make the very difficult decision of eliminating the Executive Director and Fundraising Events Coordinator positions
effective yesterday. This decision is not a reflection of the work of these employees but rather one of the greater needs of the Members of Gilda's
Club Simcoe Muskoka.
Please join with us in extending our best wishes to James Thomson and Nicole Champagne as they prepare to move on to new opportunities in other
organizations. Services provided to the Members will not be negatively impacted by the reorganization.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these difficult changes, please contact one of the members of the Executive Committee and we will be
happy to help you to understand our rationale and plans for the future.
Sincerely,
The Executive Committee of The Board of Directors, Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka
Graydon Oldfield, Chair,
Michael Gleason, Past Chair
Brenda Pinder Parsons, Vice Chair
